Increased traffic from the Antelope
Valley and the high desert area to the San Fernando Valley
burdened the existing state route 14 to its maximum capacity. This
twenty five year old freeway was rejuvenated with an increase of one
to two traffic lanes and installation of a High Occupancy Vehicle
(HOV) lane in each direction. This required widening of one over-crossing
and seven under-crossing bridges, excavation and dynamiting of adjacent
hills and construction of buttresses, bridge components and additional
asphalt and concrete road pavement. This project included coordinating
lane closures, day and night time operations and minimizing construction
impact on the motoring public.
In concert with PinnacleOne, DACM
Project Management monitored the construction schedule submitted
by the General Contractor, F.C.I. Constructors, including comparison
of construction activities of those of the approved baseline schedule.
CPM Scheduling also included forecasting and monitoring change order
impact on the critical path, and producing monthly reports to the
Caltrans District Seven Engineer.
